Senior Mechanical Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States. Must be a U.S. Person due to access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.

Salary: $170,000–$210,000 USD base salary per year, plus bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Lead the design, build, and deployment of mechanical and electromechanical systems for ground, maritime, and aerial robotic platforms.
• Architect autonomy hardware systems and select compute modules, communications devices, networking components, and sensors.
• Design ruggedized electronics enclosures from initial concept through prototyping and environmental qualification.
• Own mechanical testing activities, including fixture design, hardware selection, wiring, environmental sealing, and system validation.
• Integrate hardware with electrical and software systems and troubleshoot robotic platforms in the shop and field.
• Develop modular hardware architectures and document test plans, validation results, integration procedures, and hardware specifications.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, or hardware test engineering, preferably in robotics, aerospace, automotive, or defense.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong 3D CAD skills for designing fixtures, enclosures, and electromechanical systems.
• Experience architecting systems and selecting sensors, communications equipment, and compute hardware.
• Hands-on experience with ruggedized electronics, PCBA interfaces, thermal management, connector selection, and environmental qualification.
• Broad testing and analysis experience covering thermal, structural, fluid, shock and vibration, and environmental conditions. U.S. Person status is required; a U.S. Top Secret security clearance may be required.
