Senior Systems Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Full-time, on-site at Sunnyvale HQ in Sunnyvale, California; no relocation provided. Travel to deployment sites and suppliers may be required. Candidates must be U.S. Persons.

Base salary: $160,000–$195,000 annually, depending on experience. Equity through stock options.

What you will do

• Own the K7 charging and docking program from concept through field qualification, serving as the technical point of accountability.
• Define electrical and power systems architecture for J1772 plug-in charging, wireless and automatic docking, onboard charging, power conversion, and energy storage interfaces.
• Lead the off-grid solar charging architecture, including PV sizing, high-voltage battery storage, inverters, charge controllers, and site power budgets.
• Set system requirements, validation plans, and acceptance criteria while driving design tradeoffs across cost, reliability, manufacturability, and field performance.
• Integrate charging-control and docking-autonomy software developed by the software team into a reliable fielded product.
• Select and qualify hardware, lead design reviews and program execution, support manufacturing and supply chain, and resolve field issues.

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 7–10 years of experience developing electrical and power systems products, including ownership of electromechanical hardware programs from concept through production.
• Deep expertise in power electronics, battery charging, energy storage, and high-voltage systems.
• Experience with EV charging, J1772 or inductive charging, PV/solar power systems, off-grid energy storage, or DC fast-charging architectures.
• Strong understanding of power conversion, connectors, contactors, thermal management, fault response, docking mechanisms, alignment, and mating interfaces.
• Ability to work full-time on-site at the Sunnyvale HQ and qualification as a U.S. Person are required.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with UL, NEC, J1772, and applicable electrical and installation standards.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and complex programs in a fast-paced startup environment.
