TL;DR
Staff Engineer, Composite Advance Manufacturing (Composite Manufacturing): Building and scaling composite manufacturing processes and infrastructure for aircraft production, including a new production line for a next-generation jet, with an accent on process optimization, capital equipment, and production systems. Focus on developing CPD/Fibersim definitions, assessing producibility, integrating tooling and automation, and improving throughput, quality, and cost at factory scale.

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States; on-site

Salary: $150,000–$230,000 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for full-time regular employees.

What you will do

  • Lead the design and optimization of high-impact composite manufacturing processes across multiple aircraft programs.
  • Scale production while balancing throughput, quality, and cost.
  • Launch manufacturing engineering operations and infrastructure for a new production line supporting a next-generation jet.
  • Develop CPD/Fibersim definitions and producibility assessments for composite parts.
  • Select and integrate manufacturing equipment, tooling, automation, and hardware/software systems with vendors.
  • Mentor engineers and production personnel while standardizing manufacturing performance across functions.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in a rapid-growth environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, or relevant equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, NX, or CATIA.
  • Experience with Composite Part Design, Fibersim, and Generative Shape Design.
  • Strong knowledge of composite manufacturing processes, including machining, lamination, or assembly.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality standards.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing, automation systems, ERP/MRP systems, or data-driven manufacturing decisions.
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing equipment and tooling design.
  • Project management experience across multiple priorities and deadlines.
