TL;DR
Staff Engineer, Industrial (Aerospace): Designing and scaling manufacturing systems and greenfield factories for advanced aerospace products with an accent on factory layouts, material flow, capacity planning, and production readiness. Focus on developing 2D and 3D factory models, simulating production throughput, optimizing line balance and bottlenecks, and launching production-ready facilities.

What you will do

  • Lead factory layout development, production line design, and manufacturing system optimization for new and existing programs.
  • Plan and execute greenfield manufacturing facilities, including master planning, space allocation, utilities, equipment placement, material flow, and capacity planning.
  • Design material presentation, kitting, replenishment, warehouse logistics, workstation layouts, and production support infrastructure.
  • Perform capacity modeling, line balancing, takt-time analysis, labor planning, time studies, ergonomic assessments, and bottleneck analysis.
  • Use discrete-event simulation to validate factory designs, model throughput, identify constraints, and optimize production strategies.
  • Lead cross-functional design reviews and support construction, equipment installation, commissioning, production readiness, and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in industrial engineering, factory design, manufacturing systems, production planning, or greenfield facility development.
  • Experience designing factory layouts, production lines, and scalable manufacturing systems for complex products.
  • Experience with production ramp-up, new product introduction, manufacturing process development, and major facility or line launches.
  • Knowledge of machining, composites, electrical assemblies, precision mechanical assemblies, and final integration.
  • Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, project management, and cross-functional leadership skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, or advanced manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with automated material handling, robotics, AGVs/AMRs, automated storage systems, or Industry 4.0 technologies.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification and experience with MES, ERP, digital factory, or production simulation technologies.
