Director, Event Technology II (Audio-Visual Events)

Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Work is performed onsite in a hotel/convention center environment, with irregular hours, on-call shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The role may support multiple hotel locations.

Salary: CAD 65,000–80,000 per year, with possible overtime, bonuses, or incentives depending on the position and qualifications.

What you will do

• Manage revenue, profitability, labor, equipment costs, invoicing, forecasts, and location P&L reporting.
• Oversee daily event operations, including scheduling, equipment setup, operation, strikes, inventory control, safety, and quality assurance.
• Develop sales strategies, prepare quotes and proposals, support upsell and cross-sell opportunities, and participate in site visits and event planning meetings.
• Maintain relationships with customers, venue personnel, vendors, and internal departments while ensuring customer needs are met onsite.
• Guide technicians through audio-visual and software troubleshooting and act as the onsite technical expert when needed.
• Manage staffing, performance, selection, training, coaching, and development for the event technology team.

Requirements

• High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• At least 3 years of audio-visual experience and 1 year of supervisory experience.
• Working knowledge of audio-visual equipment in a live show environment.
• Proficiency with computer hardware, software, Internet tools, and Microsoft Office.
• Effective leadership, customer-service, hospitality, sales, and problem-solving abilities.
• Valid driver’s license required for team members who may operate company vehicles.

Nice to have

• At least 2 years of customer service or hospitality experience.
• Sales experience.
