Senior Lead Engineer - IT

Location: Must be based in Chennai or Gurgaon, India; work during US business hours is required.

What you will do

• Administer Exchange Online, the limited on-premises Exchange environment used for SMTP relay, Outlook, OWA, and the Proofpoint Email Security Gateway.
• Support Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Microsoft 365 Apps, Bookings, Viva Engage, Viva Connections, Power Automate, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and Copilot Studio.
• Partner with application owners and development teams on Entra application registrations, Teams apps, Outlook and Office add-ins, Microsoft Graph integrations, SMTP relay, and calendaring services.
• Coordinate partner-led migrations and platform changes through planning, technical guidance, testing, validation, and post-implementation support.
• Resolve incidents, perform root cause analysis, manage changes and vendor escalations, support audits, maintain documentation and reporting, and automate repeatable work.
• Mentor less experienced team members and continuously improve messaging, collaboration, and productivity services.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Seven or more years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 messaging and collaboration services in a large enterprise environment.
• Advanced experience with Exchange Online, Exchange Server, Outlook, OWA, mail flow, message trace, transport rules, connectors, mailboxes, permissions, Autodiscover, mobile access, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.
• Experience administering an enterprise email security gateway, preferably Proofpoint; Mimecast and Microsoft Defender for Office 365 are also considered.
• Working knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID synchronization, and formal IT service management processes.
• Night-shift schedules are 5 PM–2 AM or 6 PM–3 AM, with work during US business hours.

Nice to have

• Experience in a regulated company and supporting Microsoft 365 at large-enterprise scale.
• ServiceNow experience, PowerShell, and Microsoft Graph experience for automation, reporting, and administration.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Defender for Office 365, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and related Microsoft 365 capabilities.
• Experience with partner-led migrations, Zoom administration, or Microsoft and Proofpoint certifications.
