What you will do
- Manage an assigned portion of accounts receivable for Medicare, MassHealth, and other government insurers.
- Follow up with third-party payers through portals, email, fax, mail, and phone.
- Review claim denials and coordinate with internal departments to support claim adjudication.
- Compare payments with payer contracts to verify reimbursement and adjustment accuracy.
- Evaluate credit balances and process third-party refunds when needed.
- Fulfill payer documentation requests, including medical records, itemized bills, appeals, and proof of timely filing.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least one year of hospital or physician-office insurance claims follow-up experience.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and billing software.
- Some knowledge of hospital or physician billing software, third-party regulations, and patient accounting regulations.
- Ability to work independently and under direct supervision while maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
Nice to have
- Experience with access management, including scheduling, registration, and financial clearance.
- Coding and denial management experience.
