TL;DR
Portfolio Manager I - Middle Market, Leveraged & Syndications (Credit): Underwriting and managing cash flow-based financing and leveraged lending portfolios for middle market companies with an accent on projection modeling, enterprise value analysis, and covenant monitoring. Focus on preparing complex credit recommendations, assessing borrower risk, and structuring syndicated loans, acquisitions, recapitalizations, and growth capital facilities.

Location: In office in Los Angeles or Irvine, California, US

Starting base salary: $44.28–$75.42 per hour, plus eligibility for bonus and/or commissions.

What you will do

  • Underwrite cash flow-based financing for public and private middle market companies across multiple industries.
  • Analyze leveraged lending profiles, financial projections, cash flow structures, and enterprise value.
  • Manage an assigned credit portfolio, including risk ratings, covenant reporting, compliance monitoring, and quarterly and annual reviews.
  • Prepare underwriting memorandums, approval documents, and credit recommendations for Credit Risk partners.
  • Partner with Relationship Managers and cross-functional teams to structure credit solutions and support client needs.
  • Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to continuous improvement and professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • At least 4 years of progressively increasing experience in credit underwriting and portfolio management.
  • Experience with credit management, lending operations, and risk management principles.
  • Ability to analyze complex credit data, assess creditworthiness, and make informed decisions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work in the designated Los Angeles or Irvine office.
