Outpatient Coder

Location: 100% remote from the United States; office address listed in Brookline, Massachusetts

Salary: $55,600–$63,500 per year

What you will do

• Review and abstract ICD-10 codes for outpatient encounters and laboratory accounts.
• Assign accurate diagnosis, procedure, and modifier codes in compliance with CMS guidelines.
• Review and resolve CCI and LCD/NCD coding edits through medical record analysis.
• Communicate with physicians about clinical documentation and collaborate with Patient Accounting on billing denials and coding issues.
• Participate in educational sessions, team meetings, and continuing coding education.
• Meet department production and accuracy standards.

Requirements

• Two years of outpatient coding or billing experience.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience with ICD-10, HCPCS, and CPT coding, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
• CCS or CPC certification required.
• Knowledge of coding and billing regulations, CMS requirements, and billing or coding software.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment coding test.
