Senior Cyber Security Engineer - Automation, Data Center & Networking Security

Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, or Palo Alto, California. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis.

Expected base salary: $160,000–$240,000 USD annually for the California position. Additional annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits may apply.

What you will do

• Lead hands-on security engineering for HPC, virtualization, cloud, data center, and network environments.
• Review architectures and deployments, identify design flaws, assess risks, and recommend stronger security controls.
• Design and deploy security automation, orchestration, infrastructure-as-code, scripts, and production tools for cloud and virtualized systems.
• Contribute to network and infrastructure security initiatives, including DMZ architectures, NAC/NAP, lateral isolation, and secure multi-site data movement.
• Monitor and remediate system security issues, develop operational playbooks, and provide dashboards and posture metrics.
• Collaborate with Cloud Platform, IT, Product, and engineering teams while mentoring team members and engineering staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related field with 4+ years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong experience in data center, virtualization, and/or network security engineering or architecture; 8+ years is preferred, or 6 years with a master’s degree.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, HPC, MAAS, Lustre, Kerberos, Linux administration, vulnerability management, and security risk assessments.
• Proficiency in Bash, Python, Go, or Java; CI/CD integration; and IaC tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
• Experience patching and hardening Linux, macOS, and Windows systems, images, and containers, along with firewall management and network protocols.
• Experience securing distributed applications and CPU, GPU, and TPU workloads, plus knowledge of ISO 27001, NIST 800-53, and Zero Trust Architecture.

• Experience with Jenkins.
• Exposure to data governance, secure data movement, and storage lifecycle management.
