Optical Associate, Non-Certified – Sam’s Club (Optical)

Hourly wage: $20.00–$28.00 per hour. Additional premiums may range from $0.35 to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances.

What you will do

• Maintain optical merchandise presentation, inventory, displays, pricing, organization, and documentation.
• Assist members with eyewear and contact lens purchases, prescription verification, measurements, frame adjustments, repairs, and final inspections.
• Process eyewear and contact lens orders, refunds, payments, insurance claims, chargebacks, and POS transactions.
• Educate members on eyewear care and contact lens hygiene, and support contact lens insertion and removal.
• Schedule and confirm member visits; support optometrist appointments, pre-testing, patient records, and telehealth services as applicable.
• Communicate with laboratories and optometrists, troubleshoot equipment issues, and coordinate repairs or product updates.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent upon entry or within 12 months of hire.
• Meet applicable age, registration, certification, and state requirements for optical associates.
• Obtain American Board of Opticianry certification within 15 months of hire or job entry.
• Register and maintain an NPI number when required by state law.
• In licensed or registered states, complete applicable apprenticeship and optician licensure requirements within the specified state timelines.
• Complete required virtual and hands-on training and maintain any required registration or certification.
