Environmental Health & Safety Manager (MedTech)

Location: Leiden, South Holland, Netherlands

Salary: €68,600–€119,600 annually, plus an annual bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the EH&S infrastructure, programs, and team for the Leiden campus.
• Develop a safety culture through ownership systems, business partnerships, and safety committees.
• Execute and continuously improve the EH&S management system while sustaining ISO 14001 certification.
• Oversee laboratory safety, regulatory compliance assessments, audits, inspections, and corrective action plans.
• Manage regulatory reporting, site metrics, incident investigations, risk assessments, emergency response capabilities, and capital-project EH&S reviews.
• Coach EH&S professionals and manage talent, budgets, cost allocation, and regulatory tracking activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or another technical field.
• 12+ years of EH&S experience and experience building, leading, supervising, and maintaining EH&S programs.
• Strong written and spoken Dutch and English communication skills are required.
• Knowledge of national EH&S regulations and experience identifying, evaluating, and controlling EH&S hazards.
• Experience delivering classroom and virtual training, conducting risk assessments, and supporting regulatory compliance.
• Highly developed interpersonal and cross-cultural skills.

Nice to have

• Master of Science degree in an EH&S-related field.
• 7+ years of team leadership or direct people management.
• Professional Engineer, Associate Safety Professional, Certified Safety Professional, or Certified Industrial Hygienist certification.
• Ability to interpret regulatory issues and develop remediation solutions.
