What you will do

• Provide accurate Vietnamese-English interpretation for patients, families, and medical providers.
• Interpret consent forms, diagnoses, medical procedures, discharge plans, and other patient-related information.
• Deliver services in person, by video, and by telephone, prioritizing emergency and urgent requests.
• Support patients and clinical providers throughout the hospital system and make appropriate referrals.
• Maintain accurate assignment logs, service records, and patient-related documentation.
• Act as a cultural broker and follow recognized medical interpreter codes of ethics and standards of practice.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience working as a medical interpreter.
• Fluency in written and verbal English and Vietnamese is required.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology, basic anatomy, physiology, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.
• Knowledge of the medical interpreter role, code of ethics, and standards of practice.
• Certificate of completion of a medical interpreter training program is required.
• Strong concentration, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in a human relations field such as sociology or psychology.
• National medical interpreter certification.
