Lead Scientist/Associate Director (Cancer Biology)

Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States; 100% onsite

Salary: $100,000–$186,300 per year

What you will do

• Oversee the establishment, maintenance, expansion, validation, and quality control of a repository of patient-derived models and biospecimens.
• Design and execute studies supporting biomarker discovery, drug sensitivity testing, and mechanism-of-action investigations.
• Integrate multi-omics data, including single-cell RNA sequencing and proteomics, with functional assays.
• Co-direct CPDM operations, mentor junior scientists and research associates, and contribute to strategic planning and resource allocation.
• Coordinate internal, academic, and industry collaborations, including IND-enabling studies, assay validation, and large-scale biospecimen handling.
• Develop and apply bioinformatics and AI/ML approaches to analyze complex datasets and advance functional precision medicine platforms.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Cancer Biology, or a closely related field.
• 5+ years of postdoctoral or industry experience with patient-derived models or functional precision medicine assays.
• Experience managing large model repositories, model validation, and multi-omics workflows.
• Strong publication record in translational oncology or a related field.
• Expertise in 3D cell culture, organoid techniques, PDX models, high-throughput drug screening, molecular biology, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, multiplex imaging, and bioinformatics using R/Linux.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage projects, and collaborate across disciplines in a translational research environment.

Nice to have

• Experience in cancer biology, AI-enabled translational science, companion diagnostics, or functional precision medicine platforms.
• Experience with lab automation, digitization, and ELN/LIMS implementation.
• Successful grant funding and industry or academic partnerships.
• Experience in a CLIA/CAP environment.
