Commissioning Project Manager - Mission Critical (Traveling) (Data Centers)

Location: Chicago, United States; travel required as needed for project success

Salary: $100,000–$135,000 per year, with possible additional commission or incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Manage commissioning activities for commercial data center construction projects across the L0–L5 lifecycle.
• Plan and schedule L2 site acceptance/pre-energization and L3 functional performance testing with equipment vendors and trade partners.
• Support the client’s commissioning agent during L4 integrated systems testing and L5 post-occupancy or seasonal testing.
• Coordinate project schedules, commissioning documentation, issue tracking, risk communication, and closeout activities.
• Manage OFCI equipment from factory witness testing through procurement, delivery, installation, and startup.
• Lead, mentor, and train commissioning engineers, superintendents, consultants, vendors, subcontractors, and field teams.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of construction project management experience with a strong MEP focus in a data center environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Deep knowledge of complex data center MEP systems and the full L0–L5 commissioning lifecycle.
• Experience planning and executing L2/L3 commissioning and familiarity with L4/L5 integrated systems testing.
• Experience managing OFCI equipment procurement, delivery, and installation.
• Working knowledge of Procore and P6; ability to work with limited supervision and travel as needed.

Nice to have

• Certifications such as CxA, CEM, PE, or PMP.
• Experience commissioning liquid cooling and high-density hyperscale or colocation data centers.
