On-site Freelance Game Linguist (English → Portuguese)

Location: On-site in Beijing, China; core business hours in China, 8 hours per day

What you will do

• Translate in-game text, UI, and marketing materials from English to Portuguese.
• Revise localized content for quality, style, consistency, and cultural relevance.
• Perform language quality assurance to identify grammar, spelling, terminology, and style issues.
• Preserve the original content’s tone and voice while adapting it for cultural expectations.
• Contribute linguistic input to creative and narrative discussions to help avoid cultural pitfalls.
• Collaborate with localization project managers on timelines, deliverables, and linguistic resources.

Requirements

• Native-level Portuguese and fluent English.
• At least 2 years of experience in game localization between English and Portuguese.
• Strong cultural understanding of English- and Portuguese-speaking markets.
• Experience with localization tools and content management systems.
• Excellent attention to detail, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Passion for gaming and awareness of mobile gaming trends.

• Background in translation, linguistics, or a related field.
