Senior Response Engineer - CMDC (Network Security)

Location: Hybrid, available in London, United Kingdom. Candidates progressing to the offer stage may be asked to attend an in-person interview at a hirify.global office or hub.

What you will do

• Act as a technical escalation point for complex network security incidents and large-scale volumetric or protocol-based DDoS attacks.
• Investigate BGP routing anomalies, GRE encapsulation issues, and TCP, UDP, and ICMP traffic flows using internal telemetry and flow data.
• Design, deploy, and tune network attack detection logic, security controls, alerting thresholds, and mitigation rules.
• Engineer edge-based defenses and validate stable traffic delivery for mission-critical customer environments.
• Build AI-driven troubleshooting playbooks, automated mitigation workflows, and self-healing infrastructure responses.
• Provide technical guidance to customer network teams and mentor Managed Defense Center engineers during live incidents.

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in DDoS mitigation, network security operations, or highly technical infrastructure incident response.
• Expert knowledge of BGP and GRE reinjection, with strong understanding of TCP/IP, UDP, and ICMP traffic.
• Experience identifying network attacks and designing mitigation strategies for volumetric DDoS, UDP/TCP attacks, and protocol exhaustion.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or Bash for network security automation, plus experience with AI/ML models or LLM APIs.
• Experience with monitoring platforms such as Prometheus and Grafana and querying large network datasets.
• Advanced networking or network security certifications such as CCNP, CCNP Security, or CCIE are valued.
