What you will do

  • Conduct in-person standardized video education appointments about genetic testing options, obtain informed consent, and collect family histories.
  • Coordinate genetic testing orders, requisitions, biological sample packaging, and communication with outside laboratories and insurance companies.
  • Track patients and genetic test results, manage follow-up communications, and escalate clinical concerns to genetic counselors when needed.
  • Enter patient histories, test results, and pedigree information into Progeny and maintain patient databases.
  • Support genetic counselors with medical-record review in Epic, correspondence, faxes, letters, and other administrative tasks.
  • Respond to patient, provider, laboratory, and internal team inquiries by phone, email, letter, and patient portal.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; a degree in biological sciences is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, customer-service, communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures, recognize time-sensitive issues, and escalate clinical concerns appropriately.
  • Ability to work with diverse adult patients, medical personnel, research staff, laboratories, and insurers.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office; knowledge of medical terminology and cancer genetics is beneficial.
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule with 2–3 days onsite per week in Boston.
