Remote Regional Genetic Program Counselor (Oncology)

Location: Dallas, Texas; must reside in Texas or be willing to relocate before the start date. Remote work is combined with frequent travel to assigned clinics across the region, automobile travel within the service region, and statewide or national travel 4–6 times per year.

A large community oncology provider delivering evidence-based cancer care through more than 300 sites across Texas and southeastern Oklahoma.

What you will do

• Manage and mentor GREAT Program providers across the assigned region to support high-quality hereditary cancer care.
• Deliver advanced cancer genetics training, educational sessions, and clinical preceptorships for physicians and advanced practice providers.
• Onboard clinic sites, support complex cases, improve genetics workflows, and coordinate communications with genetic testing laboratories.
• Conduct annual chart reviews and provide leadership, quality recommendations, and coverage oversight for regional genetic counseling services.
• Develop educational curricula, genetic resources, policies, procedures, tools, and quality improvement projects.
• Provide genetic counseling, risk assessment, pedigree analysis, insurance authorization support, testing coordination, and results interpretation to patients and families as needed.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Medical Genetics or Genetic Counseling with clinical experience from an accredited genetic counseling program.
• Board certification or eligibility for certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling or American Board of Medical Genetics.
• No experience is required; three years of practicing genetic counseling experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of hereditary cancer risk assessment programs and pedigree drawing software.
• Ability to travel frequently and work in oncology or hematology clinic environments, including potential exposure to communicable diseases and medical preparations.

Nice to have

• Oncology experience.
• Experience with Tyrer-Cuzick risk assessment, CRA Health, Progeny, or similar tools.
• Experience supervising genetic counseling student interns.
