Senior Product Designer (Geospatial Data)

What you will do

• Lead the end-to-end design of complex, high-impact product features and translate complex workflows into intuitive digital experiences.
• Design data-dense interfaces, dashboards, maps, and temporal visualizations for wildfire behavior, weather patterns, infrastructure, and risk evolution.
• Transform large predictive datasets and sophisticated modeling into clear, actionable insights for high-stakes decisions.
• Plan and conduct user research, create journey maps, personas, and scenarios, and incorporate feedback from customers and Customer Success.
• Develop and maintain design systems, lead design reviews, and evolve design patterns and best practices with other designers.
• Shape UX vision and product direction while presenting design decisions to product, engineering, science, senior leaders, and C-level stakeholders.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience as a Product or UX Designer, including substantial experience in a senior or lead role.
• Experience designing geospatial interfaces, mapping applications, or GIS-based systems.
• Figma mastery is required, along with hands-on Jira experience and proficiency with prototyping and rapid iteration workflows.
• Experience using AI-powered design tools such as Lovable, Claude Design, or similar.
• Ability to simplify complex data and workflows into intuitive user experiences, with strong expertise in UX/UI and prototyping.
• Experience in utility, energy, GIS, or other complex enterprise environments, plus a strong portfolio in data visualization and information architecture.

Nice to have

• Background in GIS, cartography, or geospatial data visualization, including ArcGIS, QGIS, Mapbox, or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with environmental science, meteorology, or fire behavior concepts.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards for government and enterprise software.
• Experience with design systems, component libraries, mobile design, and collaboration with engineers and data scientists.
• Eastern Time Zone location preferred.
