Backend Engineer (Node.js)

Location: Hybrid in Vilnius or Kaunas, Lithuania

Gross salary: €5,600–€7,600 per month, based on experience and competence.

What you will do

• Design and develop Node.js backend systems and REST APIs for hirify.global AI Builder and ecommerce products.
• Own backend features and services end-to-end, making architectural decisions with guidance from senior engineers.
• Optimize API performance, databases, observability, and system scalability.
• Integrate third-party APIs, message queues, data storage solutions, and containerized services.
• Write tested, documented, maintainable code and collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and engineers.
• Develop engineering expertise through mentorship in system design, performance optimization, and backend practices.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of production experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Experience building REST APIs, working with message queues such as RabbitMQ, BullMQ, or GCP Pub/Sub, and using SQL, Redis, and an ORM.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, containerization, and observability tools such as Grafana.
• Experience with unit and integration testing using Jest, Mocha, or similar tools.
• Proficiency with Git, clear documentation, ownership, and cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to have

• Exposure to microservices architecture and performance monitoring and optimization.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Terraform.
• Experience with AI tools and LLM providers.
