Principal Service Designer

Location: Remote or hybrid within the United Kingdom, dependent on location. Candidates must have a pre-existing right to work and travel within the UK.

Salary: £59,800–£75,000 monthly, subject to location and experience.

What you will do

• Lead complex service design projects across multiple sectors and direct high-value client engagements.
• Create end-to-end, evidence-based services that are user-centred, inclusive, accessible and sustainable.
• Drive collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and support strategic client partnerships.
• Shape service design practice, quality standards and ways of working across NEC Digital Studio.
• Mentor, line manage and recruit colleagues while identifying development needs and fostering a high-performing culture.
• Support commercial growth through opportunity shaping, project scoping, costing, risk management, proposals and pitches.

Requirements

• Significant experience delivering complex service design projects, including demonstrable experience with GDS projects.
• Strong user-centred design, strategy, systems thinking and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience planning research with User Researchers and translating insights into project outcomes.
• Ability to design and lead workshops, stakeholder sessions and complex meetings.
• Experience leading prototyping and testing and guiding implementation and delivery planning.
• Pre-existing right to work and travel within the UK; satisfactory vetting, references and occupational health checks are required. SC clearance is required, and a DBS check may also be required.
