TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineer (Medical Robotics) (Precision Manufacturing): Designing and validating assembly processes, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing documentation for advanced robotic medical device systems with an accent on electromechanical troubleshooting, precision assembly, and product introduction. Focus on resolving complex manufacturing issues, leading root cause analysis, validating processes and test methods, and transitioning products into production.

Location: Fully onsite in Santa Clara, California, United States; up to 10% travel required.

Base pay: $91,000–$128,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Design, validate, and document precision assembly processes, tooling, gauges, and fixtures.
  • Develop design control records, product configurations, manufacturing procedures, lot history records, bills of materials, and quality system documentation.
  • Lead manufacturing reviews with R&D, Quality, and Production teams during new product introductions and product transitions.
  • Troubleshoot electromechanical build issues across mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation domains.
  • Lead root cause analysis and continuous improvement projects with measurable outcomes.
  • Drive process characterization, process validation, test method validation, and resolution of non-conformances.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechatronic engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of manufacturing engineering experience with increasing responsibility.
  • Strong experience in manufacturing process documentation and quality system records.
  • Proficiency in CAD, rapid prototyping, design for manufacturing analysis, and precision assembly.
  • Experience sourcing and qualifying manufacturing tools, gauges, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with surgical robotics platforms or high-precision medical devices.
  • Background in high-mix, low-volume precision manufacturing.
  • Experience with MES systems and PLM tools in regulated industries.
