TL;DR
MedTech Laboratory Field Service Engineer (Medical Devices): Maintaining, installing, configuring, and testing laboratory diagnostic devices in hospitals across the United States with an accent on biomedical troubleshooting, technical documentation, and customer support. Focus on performing field repairs, traveling nationally to healthcare facilities, maintaining hospital credentials, and resolving hardware, electrical, mechanical, and networking issues.

Location: Seattle, WA; 100% travel required across local, regional, and national assignments in the United States. Candidates must live within one hour of a major airport and have a personal vehicle for assignments up to three hours from home.

Salary: $42–$45 per hour.

What you will do

  • Maintain, install, update, configure, and test laboratory diagnostic and other medical devices in hospitals.
  • Provide technical communication and customer support to on-site hospital staff.
  • Perform routine checks, troubleshoot equipment, and record product test data after installation and configuration.
  • Submit daily technical documentation while maintaining product support quality standards.
  • Travel locally, regionally, and nationally to complete repair and maintenance assignments.
  • Maintain hospital vendor credentials through services such as GHX Vendormate and Reptrax.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or technical school training in biomedical engineering, or 3–5+ years of experience repairing, maintaining, and installing laboratory medical diagnostic equipment in lieu of education.
  • Required experience with biomedical, hardware, electrical, mechanical, and diagnostic repair and troubleshooting.
  • Professional business acumen, effective communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively and travel to client sites when repairs or maintenance are needed.
  • Active, unrestricted driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and a personal vehicle for work-related assignments.
  • Ability to complete hospital credentialing and required immunizations; authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship is required.

Nice to have

  • Background in biomedical, networking, military, or field-based technician roles.
  • Technical experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Excel, Word, and OneNote.

Culture & Benefits

  • Part-time, assignment-based schedule with a guaranteed 24 hours per week and expected availability of up to 40 hours per week, with overtime as needed.
