Distribution Wildfire Engineer (Electrical Engineering)

Salary: $70,000–$156,000 per year, with level-specific ranges from $70,000 to $156,600.

What you will do

• Support system protection and wildfire-resiliency initiatives across the distribution grid.
• Contribute to Enhanced Powerline Safety Settings, asset health programs, and field-driven wildfire mitigation strategies.
• Prepare and support technical documentation, including designs, testing materials, calculations, reports, and standards.
• Provide technical and field engineering support for operations, maintenance, testing, diagnostics, inspections, and commissioning.
• Coordinate project phases such as research, design, equipment selection, procurement support, installation, and commissioning under senior supervision.
• Support bid evaluations, budgeting, estimating, forecasting, work-order management, and coordination of interns or technical personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited curriculum; electrical engineering is preferred.
• Relevant experience requirements vary by level: 0+ years for entry, 2+ years for staff, 5+ years with EIT/FE or 7+ years without for senior, and 9+ years with PE or 15+ years without for principal.
• Experience or exposure to power systems, system protection, grid resiliency, protection concepts, fault analysis, relays, or reclosers is preferred.
• EIT/FE is preferred at entry and strongly preferred at staff level; it is required for the senior level when applicable, and PE registration is required for the principal level.
• The position is based in Amarillo or Lubbock, Texas.
