Electrical Engineering Technologist III or Sr Electrical Engineering Technologist - Power Electrical Systems

Location: Onsite at a company facility in Terrell, North Carolina, supporting Marshall Steam Station. Travel: 5–15%. Relocation assistance may be provided.

What you will do

• Serve as the site subject matter expert and electrical system owner for power systems.
• Support plant operations and maintenance through troubleshooting, problem solving, technical recommendations, and emergent-issue response.
• Monitor and trend system and component performance, evaluate preventive maintenance effectiveness, and improve equipment reliability.
• Direct onsite testing and troubleshooting activities and coordinate with operations, maintenance, engineering, transmission, and other departments.
• Develop project scopes, technical bases, installation requirements, and testing requirements for AC and DC power systems, motors, transformers, switchgear, breakers, and related equipment.
• Coordinate external vendors, manage control-system support as the single point of contact, maintain the plant risk grid, and support regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Engineering, with 4+ years of related experience for Engineering Technologist III or 6+ years for Senior Engineering Technologist.
• Alternative qualification paths include a bachelor’s degree with relevant industry experience or equivalent experience without a degree.
• Knowledge of electrical distribution systems, protective-system coordination, protective relays, automatic voltage regulators, and electrical troubleshooting.
• Understanding of NERC regulatory compliance requirements for battery and protection systems.
• Ability to research engineering and design issues, evaluate alternatives, prepare recommendations, and communicate them effectively.
• Ability to work lawfully in the United States without employment-based immigration sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Utility industry or department-specific experience.
• Experience using Power Plan to build and process projects.
• Experience using Maximo to create equipment-repair work orders and process purchase requisitions.
• Understanding of basic project management principles.
