Consumer Banking Relationship Specialist (Relationship Banker)

Location: Gastonia, North Carolina, United States; onsite retail banking role

What you will do

• Build professional relationships with customers and discuss their financial needs and goals.
• Use assessment tools to document customer conversations, identify needs, make recommendations, and submit referrals.
• Open and service deposit accounts and process account transactions accurately and efficiently.
• Resolve customer concerns empathetically, escalating issues when needed.
• Participate in business development, calling efforts, morning huddles, coaching conversations, and continuous learning.
• Collaborate with banking center and line-of-business partners while providing backup support to other retail banking roles and locations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• At least one year of experience interacting with people and demonstrating excellent service skills through work, military service, or education.
• Basic knowledge of personal finance and household budgeting.
• Strong communication, critical thinking, attention to detail, confidentiality, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently, follow banking and security procedures, use Microsoft Office applications, and travel to other work locations as needed.
• NMLS preferred and required for lending activities.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of or experience with bank products, online banking, mobile banking applications, and banking cards.
• Retail customer service or sales experience.
• Bachelor’s degree.
