Project Development Engineer

What you will do

• Visit customer sites to investigate mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems and document utility data, energy performance, and facility infrastructure.
• Identify energy-conservation opportunities and support energy-savings calculations and technical engineering assessments.
• Assist with conceptual and detailed designs, bid documents, cost estimates, drawings, and specifications for energy-efficient building technologies.
• Coordinate feasibility and pricing verification with vendors and installation contractors.
• Provide technical guidance across project development, construction, commissioning, operations, and maintenance.
• Maintain customer and project relationships while supporting successful implementation within financial and technical parameters.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, sustainable engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• At least five years of relevant experience in energy-efficiency and/or building-automation project development and implementation; candidates with less experience may be considered for a lower-level position.
• Experience analyzing and quantifying energy savings and implementing projects involving chiller and boiler plants, motors, VSDs, HVAC retrofits, controls, and distributed generation.
• Knowledge of measurement and verification, project cost estimating, and accounting is desirable.
• Strong verbal, written, technical presentation, spreadsheet, computer, and organizational skills.
• Valid driver’s license issued by the state of residence and a good driving record.

Nice to have

• Experience with building simulation software and industrial facility retrofits.
• Advanced experience with Excel and Word.
