Location: Plainfield, Illinois, United States. Permanent work location: regional office or shop.

Salary: USD $24.00–$26.50 per hour

What you will do

• Conduct site walkthroughs to identify hazards, inspect machinery, check PPE compliance, and verify adherence to safety standards.
• Support ergonomics evaluations, job hazard analyses, risk assessments, and corrective-action planning.
• Assist with accident and near-miss investigations to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
• Develop and deliver safety presentations, orientations, training materials, and awareness campaigns.
• Maintain safety records, procedures, manuals, Safety Data Sheets, compliance documentation, and performance dashboards.
• Support safety committee meetings, external audits, equipment tracking, and environmental permitting activities.

Requirements

• Current enrollment in an occupational safety degree or similar safety professional program is required.
• Minimum 2.5 overall GPA required.
• Junior or senior standing with at least one applicable upper-level design course.
• Basic knowledge of workplace safety, OSHA regulations, industry standards, and PPE usage and maintenance.
• Clear communication skills, leadership potential, adaptability, and willingness to learn.
• Flexible schedule and ability to travel.
