Senior Spacecraft Flight Software Engineer, C++ (Aerospace)

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Employees must be lawfully authorized to work in the U.S. and qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR requirements.

Salary: $169,067–$216,031 per year, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

What you will do

• Develop reliable flight software governing spacecraft, satellite bus, and reentry capsule operations throughout complete missions.
• Write structured bare-metal, RTOS-based, and Linux-based software for embedded processors in C++.
• Own software design, testing, integration, verification, and validation.
• Capture requirements and perform initial design trades for open-ended spacecraft software problems.
• Ensure software quality and performance through testing and V&V activities.
• Collaborate with the team to communicate, troubleshoot, and solve complex technical problems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, or equivalent technical experience in safety-critical software.
• 5+ years of experience developing spacecraft or similar safety-critical software.
• Strong C++ development experience and understanding of C++ language concepts.
• Experience developing and testing real-time embedded systems.
• Experience with safety-critical software, particularly in aerospace applications.
• U.S. work authorization and U.S. person status are required due to ITAR-controlled technology access.

Nice to have

• End-to-end experience building and launching a spacecraft.
• Experience with CCSDS telemetry and telecommand systems, F' framework, or cFS.
• Experience with Python or Rust.
• Knowledge of analog and digital electronics.
• Familiarity with SPI, I2C, CAN, or EtherCAT.
