Shop Machine Press Operator

Location: Houston, Texas, United States. Full-time shop or field position with frequent outdoor exposure, loud noise, moving mechanical parts, construction equipment, fumes, chemicals, and airborne particles. Standard schedule is Monday–Thursday, 10 hours per day, with mandatory weekend overtime based on production needs.

What you will do

• Set up, operate, and monitor a 500-ton press to produce accurate metal components.
• Read blueprints, layouts, and sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, operating sequences, and setup requirements.
• Load and unload metal plates or components and make routine machine adjustments.
• Inspect finished parts with calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring tools; document quality checks and production results.
• Troubleshoot basic machine issues, escalate complex problems, and perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and maintenance.
• Follow OSHA and company safety requirements, maintain production records, and keep the work area organized.

Requirements

• Previous experience operating press machines or similar industrial equipment.
• Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring instruments.
• Basic mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting ability, and practical mathematical skills involving fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to communicate directions and respond to questions from supervisors, managers, and coworkers.
• Ability to frequently lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds and comply with required personal protective equipment standards.
