Director, Trade Emerging Markets (Pharmaceutical Trade)

Location: San Diego, California, United States. The role works on-site at the San Diego headquarters or another company location; remote work may be permitted with management approval based on business requirements. Regular stakeholder coordination, Monday–Friday core hours from 8:00am to 5:00pm, flexibility beyond traditional hours, and possible domestic travel are required.

Salary: $155,380–$221,416–$287,451 per year.

What you will do

• Direct underwriting strategy and economic evaluation for wholesale, medical rebate, gene and cell therapy, international sourcing, direct-to-consumer procurement, and other cost-of-goods initiatives.
• Develop enterprise business cases, financial models, pricing assumptions, margin analyses, and client value propositions.
• Establish underwriting frameworks, governance processes, assumptions, and decision criteria for emerging market programs.
• Assess impacts across rebates, guarantees, ingredient costs, network economics, formulary strategy, contracting, invoicing, reporting, and implementation.
• Maintain program roadmaps, evaluate market events, track performance, and provide executive recommendations on opportunities, risks, and prioritization.
• Lead cross-functional workgroups and manage, coach, and develop assigned staff.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 12 years of related experience, 10 years as a subject-matter expert, and 8 years of supervisory experience, or the stated equivalent alternatives.
• Strong understanding of pharmaceutical supply chain economics, PBM rebate economics, formulary strategy, manufacturer market access, wholesale procurement, and emerging cost-of-goods models.
• Experience leading complex enterprise initiatives and presenting strategies, business cases, and financial models to executive audiences.
• Strong analytical, financial, data analysis, project management, communication, decision-making, and people leadership skills.
• This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with SQL, database applications, financial modeling tools, reporting platforms, and enterprise project tracking tools.
