Manufacturing Engineer Intern (Automotive)

Location: Warren, Michigan, United States; travel to manufacturing plants within and outside Michigan may be required.

What you will do

• Evaluate and implement workstation layouts compliant with strike zone methodology.
• Design material flows from dock doors to points of use, including planning for new model year launches.
• Develop process tools and macros for standardized documentation used by the Lean Manufacturing Engineering team.
• Document current processes and support direct labor continuous improvement and line-balancing activities.
• Improve ergonomic workstations and test and implement new material-flow equipment.
• Collect simulation data and contribute to continuous improvement workshops, core projects, and business initiatives.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an accredited university and pursuing a four-year B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably Industrial Engineering.
• Available to work up to 40 hours per week from May 1 through August 30.
• Minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
• Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills, with attention to detail, organization, and follow-up.
• Ability to work effectively with plant and corporate teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Nice to have

• Previous internship or co-op experience in an automotive-related position.
• AutoCAD experience.
• Experience developing macros.
