Principal, Formulary Consulting (PBM)

Location: San Diego headquarters or another company location; remote work may be available with management approval based on business requirements. Domestic travel up to 10% is required.

Salary: $114,622–$160,472–$206,321 per year.

What you will do

• Develop and execute initiatives that improve pharmaceutical rebate yields and administrative fee revenue through formulary and rebate alignment.
• Create financial and clinical value propositions and communicate recommendations to internal stakeholders, pharmaceutical manufacturers, rebate vendors, clients, and account teams.
• Model rebates, net spend, disruption, utilization, and rebate performance using contract terms and client data.
• Develop formulary management, utilization-edit, contract-design, and risk-based contracting solutions across Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and Health Exchange lines of business.
• Participate in formulary committees and lead annual Part D strategy activities, including product placement recommendations and implementation support.
• Support rebate qualification, billing quality assurance, client and manufacturer audits, and cross-functional pharmaceutical initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of related experience, including 8+ years as a subject matter expert in the relevant area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid registered pharmacy license in any U.S. state required.
• PBM experience required.
• Superior knowledge of managed care pharmacy services and the relationship between managed healthcare and pharmacy benefit management.
• Advanced Excel skills and moderate experience with SQL, databases, financial modeling tools, reporting platforms, and enterprise project tracking tools.
• Strong written, verbal, client-service, consultative selling, analytical, and persuasive presentation skills.
