Equity Research Associate, Healthcare Sector (Biopharma)

Location: Boston, MA, United States. Hybrid schedule with office attendance four days per week and remote work one day per week.

Base salary: USD 80,000–150,000 per year, plus potential discretionary bonus, incentives, and benefits.

What you will do

• Support a senior Global Industry Analyst in covering global large-cap pharmaceutical and SMID-cap biotechnology companies across the U.S. and Europe.
• Maintain industry valuation models and build company financial models focused on pipeline valuation and drug-level forecasting.
• Assess clinical assets, probability of success, clinical data, regulatory developments, prescription data, and market data.
• Perform ongoing due diligence across the global biopharma landscape, identifying investment opportunities, risks, and competitive dynamics.
• Execute complex analytical projects using AI, data, and other tools under tight time constraints.
• Contribute to investment idea generation across long and short opportunities and participate in research discussions.

Requirements

• At least three years of relevant investment experience.
• Previous healthcare or biopharma equity research experience, ideally in a buy-side or sell-side research associate role.
• Financial modeling and valuation experience for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, including drug pipeline analysis.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, exercise judgment under uncertainty, and collaborate effectively.
• An undergraduate degree is required; backgrounds in biology, chemistry, bioengineering, or related fields are advantageous.

Nice to have

• Experience analyzing clinical, prescription, and market datasets.
• Understanding of long/short investing and risk management.
• Progress toward CFA or CAIA qualifications.
