Firmware Engineer - Protection Systems Platforms (Embedded Systems)

Location: Pullman, Washington, United States; onsite at SEL’s corporate office

Salary: $97,700–$144,400 per year for the Firmware Engineer level. Pay may differ based on the level, experience, training, knowledge, and skills.

What you will do

• Design, implement, document, and test safety-critical embedded systems.
• Develop firmware for hard real-time critical applications.
• Analyze hardware and software interactions.
• Collaborate with hardware and software engineers across disciplines.
• Learn and apply SEL engineering processes, products, and technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of C and C++.
• Experience with object-oriented design, unit testing, and debugging.
• Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
• Ability to learn new skills, assume new responsibilities, and work cooperatively in a team environment.

Nice to have

• Embedded systems firmware development experience.
• RTOS, test automation, and Python experience.
• Agile software development and tools such as Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, Jenkins, or Conan.
• Git or ClearCase source control experience.
• Knowledge of industrial controls, three-phase electric power systems, and network communication protocols.
