Firmware Engineer (Embedded Systems)

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, maintain, and optimize embedded firmware for microcontroller- and microprocessor-based products.
• Implement device drivers, communication protocols, bootloaders, real-time control algorithms, secure boot, secure firmware updates, and OTA mechanisms.
• Develop solutions for FreeRTOS, ThreadX, embedded Linux, and ARM Cortex-M systems.
• Perform hardware bring-up, firmware integration, debugging, validation, and troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and JTAG tools.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, manufacturing, quality, and product management teams from concept through certification, production release, and sustaining support.
• Prepare design specifications, test plans, validation reports, and technical documentation while supporting compliance and quality activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, embedded systems engineering, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience developing embedded firmware or software.
• Programming experience in C and/or C++ and experience with embedded systems and microcontroller-based products.
• Exposure to SPI, I²C, UART, CAN, or RS-232 serial interfaces.
• Experience troubleshooting electronic hardware and firmware integration issues.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and self-management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with industrial automation, process control, Industrial IoT, embedded Linux, or RTOS environments.
• Knowledge of functional safety, SIL-rated development, or hazardous-area certifications such as ATEX, IECEx, UL, or CSA.
• Experience with analog and digital electronics, PCB design reviews, embedded cybersecurity, cloud-connected industrial devices, or networked systems.
• Knowledge of HART, WirelessHART, MQTT, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, FDT/DTM, EDDL, or FDI.
• Master’s degree in a related engineering discipline.
