Platform Firmware Architect (Embedded Systems)

Location: Spring, Texas, United States of America; 4 days a week in-office

Salary: $130,700–$205,200 USD annually, with additional bonus and/or equity opportunities for U.S. candidates.

What you will do

• Lead the design, implementation, testing, integration, and maintenance of robust software and firmware platforms.
• Oversee operating system, application software, and system management tool installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance.
• Monitor application performance, identify bottlenecks, and coordinate performance and resource-efficiency improvements.
• Gather infrastructure system-engineering requirements with engineering groups and stakeholders.
• Lead multiple software systems engineering project teams developing complex products and platforms.
• Manage relationships with internal and outsourced development partners and provide technical guidance and mentoring.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated competence.
• Typically 7–10 years of experience, including 8+ years of firmware development or architecture experience.
• Experience with BIOS/UEFI, embedded systems, notebook PC and docking station architecture, USB-C Power Delivery, USB, PCIe, and I2C.
• Experience with security firmware, secure boot, firmware update architecture, device identity, cryptography fundamentals, and security compliance.
• Programming experience in C, C++, and Python, plus embedded Linux, RTOS, device drivers, and hardware/firmware integration.
• Experience with ODM collaboration, Git, CI/CD, Agile/Scrum, code reviews, and system design reviews.
