Platform Firmware Architect (BIOS/UEFI)

Location: Spring, Texas, United States of America; 4 days per week in the office

Salary: $130,700–$205,200 USD annually, with additional bonus and/or equity opportunities for United States candidates

What you will do

• Oversee the installation, configuration, testing, maintenance, and performance monitoring of operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
• Optimize software systems for performance, scalability, resource efficiency, and user experience; identify bottlenecks and coordinate fixes with developers.
• Gather infrastructure system-engineering requirements from engineering groups and stakeholders.
• Lead multiple software systems engineering teams across solution design, analysis, coding, testing, and integration of complex products and platforms.
• Manage relationships with internal and outsourced development partners and review designs for compliance, quality, and risk mitigation.
• Drive technology integration, provide domain expertise, and mentor less-experienced staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related discipline, or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
• Typically 7–10 years of experience in systems engineering, computer programming, or a related field, including 8+ years of firmware development or architecture experience.
• Experience with BIOS/UEFI, embedded systems, notebook PC and docking station architecture, USB-C/Power Delivery, USB, PCIe, I2C, security firmware, and ODM collaboration.
• Programming experience in C, C++, and Python.
• Experience with firmware development, RTOS, embedded Linux, system architecture, device drivers, and hardware/firmware integration.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, Agile/Scrum, code reviews, and system design reviews.
• Knowledge of secure boot, firmware update architecture, device identity, cryptography fundamentals, and security compliance.

• Experience with Zephyr RTOS.
