Lead Embedded Software Engineer (Defense)

Location: Remote within the United States; U.S. citizenship and an active US DoD Clearance are required.

Salary: $108,900–$145,200 per year plus bonus.

What you will do

• Analyze product plans and requirements and create software specifications for new products and enhancements.
• Support bids and proposals by preparing engineering labor and material estimates.
• Design, develop, integrate, debug, and test embedded computing software for defense and aerospace applications.
• Implement bootloaders, Linux and VxWorks device drivers, customized applications, test software, and simulation software.
• Collaborate with systems engineering, hardware development, and technical teams to resolve complex software and hardware issues.
• Evaluate customer-reported issues, implement improvements, and contribute to design, test, and user documentation.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and an active US DoD Clearance are required.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or a related technical field; an advanced degree is preferred.
• 8–12+ years of progressive software development experience, including complex applications or subsystems, plus 4+ years of software project lead experience.
• Hands-on experience with C/C++, real-time embedded software, Linux, VxWorks, device drivers, scripting, Python, LabVIEW, and IPMI.
• Experience with embedded development tools, processors and SoCs, protocols, laboratory debugging equipment, requirements management, source control, and collaboration tools.
• Full software lifecycle experience aligned with DO-178C and CMMI, including regression testing, verification, and engineering process discipline.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with GreenHills Multi, COSMIC, ClearQuest, VectorCAST, virtualization concepts, and the LynxOS Hypervisor.
• Advanced degree in a relevant technical field.
