Linux, OSS, and Security Software Engineer for Industrial High-End Processors

Location: Kodaira, Japan; onsite role with no remote work available

What you will do

• Design and develop Linux software and device drivers for RZ-series industrial high-end processors.
• Develop embedded security features including hardware-based encryption and secure boot.
• Develop, integrate, maintain, and evaluate Linux kernel, Trusted Firmware-A, U-Boot, OP-TEE, and industrial networking software such as OPC UA.
• Maintain Yocto Project build environments, including recipe development, and create proprietary library packages for Ubuntu and Debian.
• Manage CVE information, define patching strategies, implement security countermeasures, and improve software maintenance and quality processes.
• Collaborate with LSI design teams, internal and external stakeholders, and open-source communities, including technical discussions and patch contributions.

Requirements

• Approximately 5 or more years of embedded software development experience, including independent development and debugging based on hardware specifications.
• Basic knowledge of open-source licenses such as GPL, MIT, and BSD.
• Strong communication skills with customers and internal and external stakeholders.
• Japanese proficiency at JLPT N2 level or higher.
• Motivation to work in an English-speaking environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with Linux kernel development, device drivers, graphics, video codecs, embedded security, or industrial networking.
• Experience with Yocto Project, CI/CD environments, GitLab, or Jenkins.
• Knowledge of Arm or RISC-V architectures, assembly language, TrustZone, secure boot, cryptography, SELinux, CVE handling, or virtualization.
• Experience debugging software on development boards with ICE or similar tools.
• Experience contributing to open-source communities.
