Principal Applications Engineer (Embedded)

Location: Tokyo, Japan; onsite role

What you will do

• Develop low-level MCU firmware modules, real-time kernel components, and host applications or utilities.
• Support customers with deployment of security computer products and features.
• Create application notes, design guides, user manuals, demos, and proof-of-concept platforms.
• Design and support customer-facing evaluation boards, including schematic review, layout input, and fabrication support.
• Train and support field application engineers and customers.
• Collaborate with architects, designers, validation engineers, marketing, sales, and global customer-facing teams.

Requirements

• Proficiency in C and/or C++ and embedded microcontroller firmware development and debugging.
• Strong understanding of embedded microprocessor design, internal architecture, PC hardware architecture, I/O subsystems, address decoding, programmable peripheral ICs, and keyboard controllers.
• Strong hardware/software integration skills and practical laboratory experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other lab equipment.
• Familiarity with Zephyr RTOS and cryptography.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent technical discipline, plus 10 years of relevant industry experience.
• Fluent Japanese at JLPT N1 level or equivalent and English at TOEIC 750 or higher; willingness to travel 0–25% as required.

Nice to have

• Experience applying eSPI, LPC, QSPI, I2C/SMBus, I3C, USB, MCTP, PECI, PCI, cryptographic security functions, and CAN specifications.
