Director, Retirement Benefits

Location: Remote within the USA; the posting lists Santa Ana, California

Salary: $170,900–$227,900 annually

What you will do

• Develop and execute long-term retirement and financial wellness program strategies.
• Evaluate plan designs, participation, savings outcomes, income replacement, and utilization metrics.
• Advise retirement plan committees and support fiduciary governance, investment reviews, and Investment Policy Statements.
• Oversee 401(k) plan administration, payroll integration, contribution processing, audits, compliance testing, and regulatory reporting.
• Manage recordkeepers, trustees, custodians, consultants, auditors, actuaries, RFPs, contract negotiations, and fee benchmarking.
• Lead participant education and financial wellness initiatives while presenting recommendations to senior leadership and governance committees.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive retirement benefits experience and 5+ years of leadership experience managing complex retirement programs.
• Deep expertise in 401(k) administration, ERISA compliance, fiduciary governance, investment oversight, and retirement plan operations.
• Experience supporting retirement plans with assets exceeding $2 billion and managing external vendors, consultants, and recordkeepers.
• Experience leading RFPs, contract negotiations, and fee benchmarking, with advanced analytical, financial, project management, presentation, and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in a publicly traded company.
• CEBS, QKA, CFA, CFP, or a similar professional designation.
• Experience with nonqualified deferred compensation programs or as a retirement committee liaison or fiduciary committee advisor.
• Knowledge of employee financial wellness programs.
