Strategic Advisor Air Force PBES

Location: Alexandria, Virginia, United States. Work location may change based on client requirements.

Salary: $103,000–$180,000 per year in base pay, with potential bonuses and additional compensation for hours worked over 40 per week.

What you will do

• Provide senior subject-matter expertise on Air Force Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PBES) and resource management initiatives.
• Coordinate PBES activities across Headquarters Air Force, commands, combatant commands, and other Department of the Air Force stakeholders.
• Oversee enterprise PBES processes and recommend improvements to governance, transparency, data quality, and decision-making.
• Advise senior leaders on POM, President's Budget, Budget Estimate Submission, execution reviews, and other programming and budgeting milestones.
• Develop executive briefings, analytical products, decision papers, strategic communications, metrics, dashboards, and reporting tools.
• Lead PBES education, decision-support training, organizational change initiatives, and oversight of contractor personnel.

Requirements

• Master's degree from an accredited institution.
• At least 10 years of Department of the Air Force budget, PPB&E, or financial management experience, including significant Air Force PBES experience.
• Experience leading strategic initiatives, organizational change management, multidisciplinary teams, and cross-organizational coordination.
• Strong understanding of DAF PBES processes, governance, resource management, executive briefings, policy recommendations, and decision-support products.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience briefing senior military and civilian leaders.
• Active Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Headquarters Air Force, Secretariat Staff, Joint Staff, Office of the Secretary of War, or other Department of War organizations.
• Experience supporting SAF/FM, AF/A8, or equivalent headquarters organizations and working at Command level or higher.
• Knowledge of Air Force resource management systems, budget data environments, Air Force Corporate Structure, POM development, PDMs, and budget execution.
• Experience with enterprise business transformation, digital modernization, or data analytics in Air Force Financial Management.
• PMP, CDFM, CGFM, or equivalent professional certification.
