Senior Acquisition Subject Matter Expert (SME) (Aerospace)

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. U.S. citizenship and an active TS clearance with SCI eligibility and an in-scope T5 or SSBI investigation are required.

Salary: $120,000–$140,000 per year, depending on education and experience.

What you will do

• Support the System Program Director and senior Space Force leadership with acquisition strategy, contracting, budgeting, and program execution.
• Develop and coordinate acquisition strategies, plans, deliverables, Defense Acquisition Board documentation, source-selection materials, and related program documents.
• Provide expertise in software acquisition for Department of Defense programs, including classified ACAT-like space control systems.
• Advise on contracting, financial management, acquisition planning, schedule management, technical evaluations, and source selections.
• Analyze program business cases and risks, identify execution issues, and recommend actionable solutions.
• Prepare strategic policy materials, presentations, status briefings, and communication inputs while collaborating with DoD personnel, industry partners, and government agencies.

Requirements

• At least 15 years of acquisition management and planning experience in the Department of Defense or a related environment, including operational-unit and headquarters-staff assignments.
• Demonstrated expertise in acquisition strategy, source selections, USSF policy and doctrine, congressional affairs, interagency processes, contracting, budgeting, and financial management.
• Bachelor’s degree in science or a related field; mathematics, engineering, or science is preferred.
• Active TS clearance, SCI eligibility, and an in-scope T5 or SSBI security investigation are required.
• U.S. citizenship is required, and the position is on-site in El Segundo, California.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, problem-solving, and independent working skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in science or engineering, such as systems engineering or software engineering.
• Experience with ACAT I–III program management and milestone decisions from pre-Milestone A through Milestone C.
• Source-selection evaluator or advisor experience, Pentagon or major headquarters assignments, and operations experience.
• DAWIA/APDP Program Management Level III, PMP, or PgMP certification.
• Familiarity with Confluence and JIRA, or experience with overhead persistent infrared, missile warning, nuclear detection, or missile defense programs.
