IPTAC Engineering Technician

Location: United States. Primarily mid-to-evening swing shift, including 10x4 swing shift and 12 p.m.–12 a.m. hours, with weekend on-call rotations approximately once every two months.

Base pay: $26.92–$41.39 USD per hour, with shift differential pay available for eligible U.S.-based non-exempt roles.

What you will do

• Serve as the highest-level technical escalation point for Network Control Center technicians.
• Troubleshoot complex IP, Ethernet, fiber transport, and DDoS-related service issues across Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 networks.
• Lead major incident troubleshooting, widespread outage restoration, and escalated customer communications.
• Manage network audits, configuration updates, software upgrades, tool development, and technology testing projects.
• Maintain network diagrams, topology maps, configuration records, monitoring systems, and performance analysis.
• Coordinate with vendor technical support teams, track vendor cases, and assess product change notices and technology lifecycle decisions.

Requirements

• 5–8 years of experience in advanced technical support for IP and Ethernet networks delivered over fiber.
• Strong knowledge of STP, REP, VLANs, ERP, MPLS L2/L3, DIA, VPLS, IPVPN, ISIS, BGP, OSPF, and DDoS mitigation.
• Practical experience with fiber diagnostics, wavelengths, optical power levels, and OTDR testing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, IT, Telecommunications, or a related field; equivalent experience is acceptable.
• Strong written and verbal communication, customer service orientation, and ability to work under pressure.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio.
