Infrastructure Engineering Advisor (Kafka)

Location: Walnut Creek, California, United States; hybrid work schedule

Salary: $109,970–$176,300 annual salary. The role may also participate in an annual bonus plan.

What you will do

• Design, develop, deploy, configure, and monitor Kafka clusters and Kafka-based data pipelines.
• Collaborate with application partners to define integration solutions and reusable messaging patterns.
• Optimize infrastructure for efficiency, reliability, high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Implement infrastructure security, including encryption, authentication, authorization, and vulnerability remediation.
• Automate operational tasks and resource provisioning using shell scripting, Ansible, Terraform, AWS, and Azure.
• Diagnose and resolve Kafka and infrastructure issues while minimizing customer impact.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in Kafka systems administration.
• Experience designing and building Kafka clusters, including infrastructure planning, high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Experience with Kafka Connect, connector deployment, schemas, and schema registry.
• Experience with Kafka upgrades, performance tuning, monitoring, issue triage, resiliency testing, and production deployment.
• Experience with AWS or Azure resources, EC2, EBS, security groups, networking, load balancing, and Okta integration.
