hirify.global operates WSYR-TV Newschannel 9, an ABC television affiliate serving Central New York and expanding its television streaming operation.

What you will do

• Coach and develop newsroom teammates in news production, editorial judgment, and presentation.
• Lead the creation of newscasts and streams for broadcast, digital, OTT, and social platforms.
• Adjust programming quickly for breaking news and severe weather coverage.
• Edit and write copy for on-air, digital, and social distribution using correct grammar, punctuation, formatting, and editorial style.
• Coordinate with newsroom, production, and station departments while organizing live interview bookings for morning programs.
• Line produce newscasts when needed and maintain journalistic integrity, timeliness, and production quality.

Requirements

• Strong news judgment, knowledge of current events, and high journalistic integrity.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and fluency in English.
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, make real-time editorial decisions, and handle breaking news under pressure.
• Mastery of AP writing style and strong non-linear video editing skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Media, Creative Writing, English, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and flexibility to work any shift as coverage needs require.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Adobe Premiere and the ENPS rundown and story management system.
• Knowledge of OBS.
