Executive Producer (News)

Location: Sacramento, California, United States; 100% onsite

Salary: $75,000–$85,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead the Sacramento newsroom’s daily editorial direction, content strategy, meetings, and news priorities.
• Coach and mentor producers, reporters, MMJs, and other newsroom staff while strengthening storytelling and journalistic quality.
• Review and edit scripts, develop enterprise reporting and investigations, and ensure accuracy, balance, and clarity.
• Coordinate breaking news coverage, newsroom resources, special projects, elections, and extended coverage during major events.
• Maintain editorial standards across broadcast, streaming, digital, and social platforms while supporting audience growth and content innovation.
• Provide emergency and relief anchoring, conduct interviews, participate in field reporting, and represent the station at assigned community events.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• At least 5 years of newsroom leadership experience in a small- to medium-market environment.
• Proven success producing high-impact, ratings-driven newscasts in competitive television markets.
• Experience leading fast-paced newsroom operations, including overnight shifts, breaking news, and major events.
• Strong editorial judgment, people-management, coaching, recruiting, and team-development skills.
• Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
