Senior Electrical Engineer

Location: Hiawatha, Iowa, United States; full-time on-site, Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm; no travel required

What you will do

• Design, develop, and verify electrical wiring, wire harnesses, cables, connectors, pin-outs, and PCB assemblies.
• Convert technical requirements into schematics, PCB layouts, circuit card assembly drawings, and electrical performance requirements.
• Perform component-level reviews, electrical calculations, simulations, troubleshooting, and debugging for analog and digital assemblies.
• Coordinate electrical manufacturing and testing activities and support pilot-line builds for new products and systems.
• Design test equipment and procedures, compile engineering data, and prepare technical reports.
• Conduct peer reviews, mentor new hires, and lead small project groups of one to three members.

Requirements

• Must be a US Person: a US citizen, permanent resident, or protected person.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related engineering field with 5+ years of electrical engineering experience, or 15+ years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Advanced knowledge of printed circuit design, PCB layouts, electrical engineering theory, computer hardware, systems integration, and electrical component standards.
• Proficiency in wire harness and cable design, circuit-board assembly, technical data sheets, and engineering software such as Altium Designer, Autodesk Inventor, and AutoCAD.
• Ability to use oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and other electrical testing instrumentation.
• Ability to manage multiple project milestones, identify process deficiencies, and implement corrective actions.

Nice to have

• 3+ years of PCB and schematic layout experience.
• 5+ years of electrical component building or CAD software experience.
• Experience with advanced testing equipment and computer equipment such as firewalls, switches, data acquisition systems, UPS units, and server racks.
• At least one year of leadership experience.
