Director of Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting

Location: Hybrid, based 3 days per week in North Bethesda, Maryland, USA. Occasional domestic or international travel may be required, approximately less than 10%.

What you will do

• Lead global accounting policy, technical accounting research, implementation of new accounting standards, and preparation of technical accounting memorandums.
• Advise the Controller, CFO, business platforms, Audit Committee, and auditors on complex transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, carve-outs, divestitures, and business combinations.
• Own external financial reporting and SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K, financial statements, footnote disclosures, reporting calendars, and SEC comment letter responses.
• Lead accounting and reporting for US 401(k) and defined benefit plans, including regulatory filings, plan integrations, audits, and trustee reporting.
• Oversee stock compensation accounting, equity plan activity, grants, modifications, awards, expenses, dilution, and outstanding award tracking.
• Manage direct reports, develop team talent, and drive finance process improvements, automation, data analytics, and compliant AI-enabled solutions.

Requirements

• At least 12 years of experience combining public accounting and hands-on controllership experience at SEC-registered public companies.
• Undergraduate degree in Accounting; a Master’s in Accounting is an advantage.
• Active Certified Public Accountant license.
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS, SEC Regulation S-X, and financial reporting requirements.
• Experience with ERP and reporting tools such as SAP BPC, Fidelity PSW, and Workiva.
• Ability to work from the North Bethesda, Maryland office 3 days per week, with occasional travel and willingness to relocate if future opportunities require it.
